Meet the Principal

Koopman

Hello, my name is John Koopman, Principal of Markesan Middle/High School.  This is my 10th year as Principal and I am proud to serve the students, staff, and community of Markesan.  I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from UW-La Crosse and my Principal Licensure from Viterbo University.  I started my teaching career at Hillsboro Middle/High School in 2000 as a Physical Education and Health teacher where I spent the next 14 years.  I also served as an assistant football and baseball coach, as well as the varsity boys basketball coach.

I grew up in Cassville, WI graduating from CHS in 1995.  I am an avid Badger, Brewer, and Packer fan and enjoy just about any kind of sport.  Outside of the school day, I spend my time with family and friends and try to get to as many Badger football and basketball games as my schedule will allow. I have three energetic boys (Aaron, Alex, and Harrison) that are the center of my life.  Aaron and Alex both attend Markesan Middle/High School and Harrison attends Markesan Elementary School.

Markesan Middle/High School consists of 242 High School students (9-12) and 176 Middle School students (6-8).
